Here comes Zendikar! |
Zendikar is the first set in the Zendikar block. Its tagline is "Deadly perils, priceless treasures." Unlike the previous two blocks, there will be no multicolored theme, instead the set will revolve around lands.
The first cards revealed from the set were a selection of basic lands, each displaying both a traditional frame and full-art frame reminiscent of lands from Unglued and Unhinged. Also revealed is a new subtype of card called "Trap", which modifies the cost of casting a spell dependent on certain conditions being met. Another addition to Zendikar is the new mechanic "Landfall" which is an ability that will trigger once a land comes into play, having the possibility to play a land per turn as a basic game rule, and additional lands through many other ways.
Zendikar will also contain three Planeswalkers: Nissa Revane Sorin Markov, and a second version of Chandra Nalaar, Chandra Ablaze, as previously foreshadowed in the novel The Purifying Fire.
